What is thyroid?

Thyroid is situated in the neck area below the thyroid cartilage which forms Adam’s apple. It is the largest endocrine gland consists of two connected lobes. Thyroid glands include in the process of producing thyroid hormones. The glands control body sensitivity to hormones, make protein and body usage up of energy. The thyroid hormones are directly related to the stamina and energy of the body as well as in other process of the body.

Thyroid Glands

The glands are composed of two lobes: right and left and connected by isthmus. It resembles the shape of a butterfly and body cannot function in long-term without thyroid. The main function of the thyroid glands is to converts iodine from foods to two hormones that required by the body. The two hormones T3 represents triiodothyronine and T4 is known as thyroxine. Both hormones are used in generate heat, regulate bone growth, fat, protein and carbohydrate metabolism. The pituitary glands release the hormones that stimulate thyroid hormones known as thyroid stimulating hormones (TSH).

Thyroid levels:

The increase and decreasing of hormone imbalance is the major cause various diseases and disorder. Depends on the high and low level of hormones released indicate that thyroid is dysfunction. The pituitary glands can adjust and restrict the flow of TSH level when increase flow of thyroid hormones. If it is falls out between the given ranges then depending on the low or high level, it can be considered that thyroid is either hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism. The scales may be different to 2 to 3 points.

Thyroid problems:

There are two types of health conditions commonly found in thyroid: hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. While the hypothyroidism is an insufficient activeness of thyroid glands, the hyperthyroidism is where thyroid glands are too active.

Symptoms:

In hyperthyroidism, thyroid has elevated thyroid levels. It causes fatigue, hot flashes resulting in depression and weight loss. Women are mostly complaining about having joint pain and irregular menstrual cycle. The symptoms of men belong to heat tolerance, arrhythmia, profuse sweating, increased bowel movement and depression and insomnia.

In hypothyroidism, thyroid level has decreased from normal standard level. It resulting in loss of appetite, weight gain, constipation, high cholesterol level, weakness and joint pains.

Constipation: Extra estrogen is presence as lack of elimination due to too much toxin being recycled in our bowel.

Nutritional Deficiencies: Lack of nutritional dietary or heavy metal toxicity are reasons for nutritional deficiencies such as B12 or iron
deficiency.

Immune System Dysfunctions: Mostly adrenal problems which put risk to the body at flight or fight panic mode.
