New from Algenist is the Repairing Tint & Radiance Moisturizer SPF 30. Not only does this provide sun protection, but it contains anti-aging and moisturizing ingredients to make the skin smooth and supple. While other products in the same vein cover nothing at all, this tinted moisturizer actually provides the tint it promises. It also holds up in humidity (tried and tested in the oh-so-wonderful New York weather!) Repairing Tint & Radiance comes in 4 shades (for reference, I use Light-Medium).
Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color are the eye product to own for the season because of its long-wear and crease-proof properties. Again tested in New York humidity, these cream shadow sticks don’t transfer to the brow bone. Caviar Sticks are perfect for a one-and-done shadow look, and of course travel beautifully in a makeup bag! They apply smoothly and have a pretty, pearly finish. I love the color Rose Gold for a trendy look and reach for Sugar Frost, a light beige, when I want something a bit more subtle. I finish the look with Laura’s Paint Wash Lip Color in Fuchsia Mauve for a bold lip, balancing the more neutral eyes. It provides a full coverage on first application and only dries down little, so my lips don’t feel over-dried as its worn throughout the day.
We all know that Summer requires exposed skin, so keeping it hydrated and glowy is important. I’ve been loving Aveeno’s Positively Nourishing Purifying Body Wash to care for my skin that is admittedly still a bit itchy and parched from the colder months. I use it everyday in the shower and its soothing ingredients like oatmeal relieve any discomfort or red blotchy patches I may have. Once a week, at night time and of course after exfoliating, I use my new self-tanning mousse by NKD SKN, which can be found at Duane Reade stores. I highly recommend the Dark Mousse as it provides the deepest color but looks natural after it’s washed away in the morning. I find that with proper pre and post tan care, it lasts about 5 to 6 days. This is the closest dupe I’ve found for the St. Tropez tanners, but I like this one more because . . . are you ready for this? . . . there is no offensive self-tanner smell. Seriously!
Last but certainly not least is a little nail love. Naturally I’ve been gravitating towards brighter colors, and I like Happy Hour, a coral, and Laven-dare, a white-based lavender, from Pure Ice. They both have cream formulas and are opaque at 2 coats. The price point is pretty amazing too — at 2 bucks a bottle, they certainly have my vote.
