The Glossover on Glossier

If you’re an avid beauty lover, you’ve probably come across the blog Into The Gloss created by Emily Weiss. Through the success of ITG came Glossier, Emily’s new brand of hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, fragrance, paraben, and cruelty-free cosmetics. Naturally, my ears perked up at the sound of that!

The best way to truly experience Glossier is by using the Phase 1 Set. It comes equipped with a primer, moisturizing/setting spray, universal skin balm, and tinted moisturizer.

Soothing Face Mist can be used before and after makeup. I personally enjoy using it throughout my entire skincare and makeup application — and anytime during the day my face feels a bit dry or lackluster. It has a high concentration of rosewater to soothe the skin and leave a beautiful scent.
Priming Moisturizer is water-based so it works harmoniously with both Soothing Face Mist and the tinted moisturizer included in the set. It also contains glycerin which helps product adhere to the skin, making it ideal for priming. I find that this moisturizer/primer hybrid doesn’t leave my combination skin oily. I can definitely wear this product on its own as it imparts enough moisture for me. However, I recommend that those with severely dry skin wear a separate moisturizer underneath.

Balm Dotcom (how cute is that name?) is a universal salve for lips, dry skin, cuticles, eczema patches . . . basically anywhere that needs a little TLC. My lips are consistently dry so I love using this as a lip balm. It actually helps to heal the problem, not just cover it up. If I exfoliate my lips and slather it on overnight, my lips feel soft and nourished in the morning. On the occasion I feel like being extra creative and high-fashion with my makeup, I’ll dab a bit of this on my bare eyes for a wet, glossy eye look — it’s the most fun way to use this balm!

Perfecting Skin Tint is perfectly named. It is just that — a slight tint — which imparts sheer coverage. It comes in 3 shades (for reference, I use Light). This is a perfect everyday type product. If you prefer a heavier, full-coverage look, you may want to consider using this as a base for another foundation. I typically use at least a medium coverage foundation, so I reach for Skin Tint on a good skin day or on weekends. Though the coverage is light it still evens out the skin tone nicely and feels weightless. This is going to make a fabulous summer product!

Newer to the Glossier line are two skincare items — Mega Greens Galaxy Pack, to combat congestion and oils in the skin, and Moisturizing Moon Mask, to bring balance back to dehydrated skin. Mega Greens is kaolin clay based and works wonderfully to suck up excess oil that lead to breakouts. I like using it once a week to thoroughly detoxify my skin after a week’s worth of poor food choices (hey, I’m human!) Sometimes, I do what I like to call a “multi-mask” — I use Mega Greens on my forehead and chin, my blemish-prone areas, and Moisturizing Moon on my cheeks and nose, where I tend to get dry. I love the perfectly comfortable feeling this duo leaves on my face after using this method of masking. Give it a try — your skin will eat it up!
