Black Up Cosmetics Is Actually For Everyone

The gap in the market for beauty products catered to women of color was recently filled by Black Up Cosmetics. The high-end French brand not only specializes in beautiful, quality makeup but also ensures proper undertone and color saturation for maximum payoff on dark skin. You might assume that this is a limitation better utilized by beauties with deep skin, but that’s a falsehood proven by wear from someone with very fair skin! While Black Up was indeed created with a specific intention, it certainly doesn’t restrict any beauty lover who enjoys eye-popping shades and has a basic understanding of how to play around with makeup.

For example, Black Up’s Concealer Palette is perfect to color correct imperfections on any skin tone. Each quad contains a salmon shade for banishing dark under eye circles and two deep tones that can be used for cream contouring. The formula is oil free but doesn’t drag on the skin and leaves a matte finish. This product underneath an appropriate shade of Radiance Concealer is all you would need for both shaping and brightening areas of the face, including cheek and brow bones.

You can use just a bit of Loose Powder 03 to either set your concealing (medium to tan skin) or around the contours of the face for more a natural look (light to medium skin). The powder is very finely filled and doesn’t exacerbate problem areas.

Now for the really fun part – brown eyes and all skin tones stand out in 5 Color Eyeshadow Palette 03, a mixture of green and neutral shades. These shadows have very strong pigmentation – what you see in the pan is what you get on your eyes. Use the lightest icy green as an inner corner highlight and you’ll probably want to make it an everyday staple. It’s really that good. Rim the waterline with Waterproof Smoky Kohl Pencil 04, a pretty emerald, for a “statement” look.

Finally, the makeup is complete with 2 in 1 Lip Pencil 06 for a bold warm-based red lip – or for a more natural choice, apply Perfect Nude Lip Balm 02. This shade flatters skin tones across the board with a peachy-brown undertone that keeps lips looking alive and not washed out.
